How to protect yourself in an era of "Internet of Things" home devices?

• Ensure that “Remote Management” feature is not activated
• Turn off smart features on the devices when they are not used
• Enable Two-factor authentication on all devices, if available
• Make sure to download antivirus software from its official source with automatic updating enabled
• Periodically update applications from their official sources
• Do not save your credit or bank card information within devices, re-enter it at every new purchase
• Do not activate smart TV cameras when they are not in use
• Ensure that smart devices are not connected to the network if there is no need
• Be sure to change the factory password as soon as you purchase your new smart home device
• Enable encrypted communication services on smart devices, if available
