How do Attackers Target Online Shoppers?

Create Fraudulent Websites and Emails

• Unlike traditional shopping, attackers can create a phishing website similar to the original shop web address, or send an email that appears from an official shop to try to persuade shoppers to send personal and bank information.

Intercept Unsecured Communication

• If the seller does not implement encryption protocols in the communicating from and to the shop, attackers would be able to intercept, change or acquire shoppers’ information while it is being sent.

Target Shoppers Computers

• If shoppers do not periodically update the operating system or software, or fail to install antivirus software from its official sources, attackers may be able to access their devices and gain their information.
