Your Digital Home
We now have home appliances that provide us with new levels of comfort and service. For example, it is possible to control air conditioners through mobile applications and enter our homes via smart locks instead of using the traditional method of carrying keys. In addition, we can monitor our homes from anywhere in the world through networked cameras. These technological developments are innovative and interesting, but they also constitute a new set of cyber risks that extend to become physical hazards.
What are the Risks?
- Break into and steal your home after penetrating smart locks or home cameras
- Threatening your family's safety, if a hacker tampers with smart fire systems
- Damage of appliances or raising their consumption cost in case of tamper by a hacker
- Threatening your children's safety and stealing your bank information in the event of hacking smart games systems
- Violating your privacy by hacking home network cameras
- Drain your internet bandwidth when your home network is compromised
- Exposing you to legal accountability by the official authorities in the event of a breach that lead to the use of your accounts in actions violating regulations
