Description:

Microsoft has released a clarification to address a vulnerability in the following product:

  • Internet Explorer 9
  • Internet Explorer 10
  • Internet Explorer 11

Threats:

Attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by doing the following:

  • Execute arbitrary code - remotely
  • Gain the same user right as the current user.

Best practice and Recommendations:

The CERT team encourages users to:

  • Practice safe browsing
    • Be aware of Phishing websites
    • Heed browser warnings about suspicious pages
    • Do not grant permission to, or ‘accept’, a website unless you need to
  • Do not use admin credentials if you have to use the browser
  • Use another browser
