AMD has released security alert to address a vulnerability in the following product:

  • All AMD CPUs

Threats:

Attacker could exploit this vulnerability by leaking kernel address space information through side channel attack.

Best practice and Recommendations:

AMD is not recommending any mitigations at this time, AMD continues to recommend the following best practices to help mitigate against side-channel issues:

  • Keep your operating system up-to-date by operating at the latest version of platform software and firmware which include existing mitigations for speculation-based vulnerabilities
  • Follow secure coding methodologies
  • Implement the latest patched versions of critical libraries, including those susceptible to side channel attacks
  • Utilize safe computer practice and run antivirus software
